World Environment Day 2026

 World Environment Day was observed with enthusiasm and awareness at Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya (NEEPCO), Doyang on 5th June 2026. The programme commenced during the morning assembly with Mangalacharan followed by the introduction of the significance of the day highlighting the need for environmental conservation.

A PPT presentation on the theme and importance of World Environment Day was made by Km.Manisha Deka, creating awareness among the students about current environmental challenges and sustainable practices. This was followed by a thought-provoking skit performed by three students, Stephen Lotha(class V), Km. Sonakashi Nath(class IV) and Km. Yansaroni Odyuo(class IV) conveying the message of protecting nature and preserving ecological balance.The assembly programme concluded with Shantipath.

In the second part of the programme, students of Classes IV, V and VI participated in a plantation drive within the school campus. The activity aimed to instill environmental responsibility among the students and encourage them to contribute towards a greener and healthier environment. Thereafter, the students of classes VII, VIII & X too joined the plantation drive of DHPS, NEEPCO. Students planted saplings provided by DHPS at places near the school.

The observance successfully sensitized the students towards environmental protection and reinforced the importance of collective efforts in safeguarding our planet.

Moreover, a programme jointly organised by the Wokha Forest Division and Doyang Wildlife Division was attended by the students of class IX along with three teachers, Sri Nayan Borkataki, Smt. Pujari Narzary and Sri Sumonjit Singh as invitees for a special song presentation emphasising environmental awareness and the need for collective action to protect nature. 

The programme held the presence of Shri Suman W. M. Sivachar, IFS, Divisional Forest Officer, Wokha Forest Division, Shri Echungbemo Erui, SDO (Civil), HQ Wokha, Shri Lansothung Lotha, RFO, I/C Doyang and representatives from DHPS, NEEPCO.
