Universal Brotherhood Day on 11 September 2026

Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya (NEEPCO), Doyang observed Universal Brotherhood Day with great enthusiasm and solemnity on 11 September 2026. The programme in the school premises commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and Mangalacharan, invoking blessings for the occasion. The Principal extended a warm welcome to the distinguished guests, followed by their felicitation.

The highlight of the programme was the presentation of Swami Vivekananda’s historic Chicago Address in English by Km. Thungyani Murry of Class IX. A group of students of Classes VII and VIII presented a group song, adding to the spirit of the occasion. Sri Nayan Borkataki, a teacher, delivered an insightful speech on the significance of Universal Brotherhood Day and highlighted the relevance of Swami Vivekananda’s message in the present times.The cultural segment included a solo dance performance by Atreya Rani Dalai and a group dance by girls of Class VI.The programme also featured a prize distribution ceremony, in which prizes were presented to students for their outstanding performance in the Annual Examination of the previous academic year. Certificates of Appreciation and medals were also presented to the ‘Surya Veers’(students,parents, teachers), who had successfully completed 108 Surya Namaskars as part of the Surya Namaskar Maha Yajna, acknowledging their dedication and commitment.The programme was graced by Sri Bendang Ningsang, DGM (Technical), DHPS, NEEPCO, as the Chief Guest, along with Sri Vishal Yadav, Assistant Manager, DHPS, NEEPCO, and Sri S. Bhattacharjee, Assistant Manager, DHPS, NEEPCO as guest of honour. Sri  Bendang Ningsang, in his speech, appreciated the efforts of the students and encouraged them to imbibe the ideals of universal brotherhood, harmony and service in their daily lives.The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Smt. Deepshikha Kalita, followed by Shantipath.The following competitions were also conducted for different classes as a part of the celebration:

 i) Pledge for Balvatika I to Class III

ii) Kendra Prayer for Classes IV, V & VI

iii) Vivek Vani for Classes VII to X.

 

A second programme was also organised at the CISF premises at 4:00 p.m. The programme began with the lighting of the lamp and Mangalacharan, followed by the Principal’s address on the significance of Universal Brotherhood Day.

Sri Nayan Borkataki, delivered a speech, followed by the Chicago Address in English by Km. Thungyani Murry of Class IX and the Chicago Address in Hindi by Km. Mhabeni Kithan of class IX. A group of students presented a patriotic song, creating an atmosphere of national pride and unity.

Sri Debakar Pandey, Assistant Commandant, CISF, addressed the gathering and spoke on the importance of harmony, unity and brotherhood. The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Sri L. D. Yadav and Shantipath.
